This truly is a teaser. And while I can see why people are frustrated by the lack of footage, I also love the fact that nothing has been given away while still growing interest for this ambitious movie worldwide.
A spine tingling and ponderous track from the legendary Hans ZImmer in the background provides an excellent base for a trailer which shows previous space and aviation missions with a monologue by McConaughey on how it is our destiny to explore space and how in order to achieve great things, we need to continue to push the boundaries of human travel.
A very poignant trailer which sets up the tone and emphasises the gravity (no pun intended) of this movie’s story.
A great teaser. Shows enough to get is excited but nothing major to do with the characters. A typical Nolan troll.
Today, Sony released the first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Here is my review and thoughts on the preview.
I must confess I wasn’t too excited about this movie until I saw the trailer because i wasn’t the biggest fan of the first movie and the leaked trailer circling YouTube looked corny and too much like a cartoon. This trailer turned me around. I love the way the movie had three villains and yet it looks to be incredibly balanced and not rushed. Garfield looks to be settling in as Peter Parker and Emma Stone looks at home as Gwen Stacy. One positive and one negative stood out to me in trailer.
The big presence of Harry Osborn played by the brilliant Dane DeHaan looked excellently executed by the screenwriters and DeHaan and he seems to be a great match for Garfield’s web slinger. One thing I didn’t like about this trailer though, was Jamie Fox’s Electro. His voice is way too comical and his motives for villainous behaviour are silly. Even though the balance of villains looks to be done well, Electro looks to be there for visuals and not have a main driving force for the story. I think Harry Osborn will move the narrative along more so. I hope I am proven wrong come next year.
Some of the action scenes in the daylight shots look a little unfinished but I’m sure that they will fix them up before the film is released. Apart from that, the visuals look astounding and the money shot at the end looks ground breaking.
Acting looks great apart from Fox, visuals look fantastic and this trailer I believe sets the tone of what Spider-Man movies should be like, the correct balance between comic relief and seriousness.
